May 17, 2017 saw a lot of records broke at Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. 146 employees of The Dow Chemical Company from around the country volunteered for a 2-hour period-largest group ever. They sorted over 8,000 pounds of food-largest amount of food ever sorted in 2 hours! They also painted and/or cleaned all 24 of our guest rooms too-never been done before. But they weren’t done yet. Before they left, they surprised us with a $5,000 grant! Thank you to all of the Dow planners we worked with and to all of the volunteers. Everyone seemed to have fun too! We really appreciate each one of you!
Saginaw Spirit Hockey players Matthew Kreis, Marcus Crawford and C.J. Garcia stopped by to help the children in emergency shelter celebrate their February birthdays. The three players also participated in a cupcake decorating contest with Marcus Crawford being declared the winner. Everyone had a great time!
A nice surprise from Brenda and the ladies from First Renaissance Community Church of Turner MI! They delivered 20 very full Hope & Care Tote Bags plus new coats donated by the members of their church. While the ladies were here they were given a personal tour around the Mission. They are looking forward to getting involved in different ways in the future; possibly food donations, Make a Difference Day, and coming in for the Anniversary Dinner in September! Thank you First Renaissance Community Church for your kindness and partnership! #BayCity #R3MMinistries
Thank you to the employees of Deloitte who came in and helped paint a new color on all the doors in the Mission, sort food in the pantry, and seal the furniture for our new soon-to-open apartments in the lower level! So glad you had fun too! Your help is invaluable! #BayCity #ImpactThatMatters
