Thank you to the students and leaders with the Immanual Lutheran-Bay City Youth Group! You did an amazing job this weekend cleaning the children’s chapel and organizing the donated coats and boots for our guests. It helps to have great organization and cleanliness especially when we are serving 86 men, women, and children right now! You guys rock!
The Our Lady of Czestochowa youth group made some beautiful placemats for our guests for Thanksgiving Dinner! The approximately 85 men, women, and children who will be spending Thanksgiving in shelter will very much appreciate your creative expression, knowing they are remembered this holiday. Thank you!
This was an amazing experience for the students of Western High School’s LEO Club and for the children staying in shelter! It was so endearing to witness how well the students interacted with and loved on the children and how much fun the children had with the students. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We look forward to more visits from LEO Club members in the future!
May 17, 2017 saw a lot of records broke at Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. 146 employees of The Dow Chemical Company from around the country volunteered for a 2-hour period-largest group ever. They sorted over 8,000 pounds of food-largest amount of food ever sorted in 2 hours! They also painted and/or cleaned all 24 of our guest rooms too-never been done before. But they weren’t done yet. Before they left, they surprised us with a $5,000 grant! Thank you to all of the Dow planners we worked with and to all of the volunteers. Everyone seemed to have fun too! We really appreciate each one of you!
Saginaw Spirit Hockey players Matthew Kreis, Marcus Crawford and C.J. Garcia stopped by to help the children in emergency shelter celebrate their February birthdays. The three players also participated in a cupcake decorating contest with Marcus Crawford being declared the winner. Everyone had a great time!
